As you probably have noticed User Experience (UX) is a major topic at Oracle for a while now. The PeopleSoft 9.1 and 9.2 releases are focussed on "changing the way we work". 
Features like SES, Dashboards, WorkCenters, Activity Guides, Related Content & Actions, etc streamline the tasks of the workforce. This changes the applications from a data-driven to a task-driven application, with the right information at the right time, to complete the tasks more efficient and effectively.

Beside changing the the way the workforce uses the application, the workforce has also changed. The application was initially build to be used by the back-office and was mainly for administration.
